How to Back up Xbox 360 Games

How-to Backup Your Original XBOX360 Games

Before we start with this tutorial here's a quick note:

This guide is written to help you take backups of your original xbox360 games, mainly due the fact that the microsoft xbox360 is causing alot of trouble on game discs like scratches due the malfunction of several dvd-drives and therefore you should be able to backup your own legit copy.

Also take note you won't be able to play your backups as microsoft won't allow booting of dvd-r on your xbox360.

We do not support piracy in any way with this tutorial!

Before we start lets see what we all need:

1) A dvd-drive wich can be easly taken apart
2) Your original xbox360 game
3) Data/Movie dvd wich is at least 8gigabyte in size
4) Philips screwdriver to open your dvd-drive
5) WxRipper can be found @ http://www.360-scene.org/ or at the bottom of the article
6) Optional: Wx360 wich can be found @ http://www.360-scene.org/ or at the bottom of the article
7) Last but not least, some patience

Equipment used by me for this tutorial:

- A pioneer dvd-r a04 (one of the best to take apart and acces the laser unit)
- DISC 3 from SEASON 2 of 24 (PAL / UK) wich is 8,3Gigabyte
- My original Dead Or Alive 4 game

Step 1: Take your dvd-drive apart

First of all we need to acces the laser untit of our dvd-drive, this can useally be done by removing the screws wich holds it casing! You will need to figure out yourself on how to do this for your own dvd-drive, but it should be a piece of cake.

Warning: this action will most likely void your units warrenty so make sure you want to do this!

When you did everything correct and you see the laser unit, it will probly look something like this.

STEP 2: Installing your dvd-drive

The hardest part is over now and we should now connect our dvd-drive to the computer and place it on an easy accesible place.

I'm sure you all know that this has to be done when the power is shutdown from your computer.

When everything is in place, power on your computer and continue to the following step.

STEP 3: WxRipper

By now you should have extracted both files we mentioned earlier and have them installed on your computer, so let's fire-up WxRipper and see how things work.

a) Put your dvd in the drive wich is over 8 gigabyte (I used 24 season 2 disc3) and wait until your computer recognized it.

b) From the menu select Hotswap and then "Find magic number".

c) After the magic number has been found you select "Stop drive".

d) now comes the magic part, you need to switch the dvd wich is in your drive with your original game.
Warning: this needs to be done without pressing the eject button!!

e) when everything is back in place you can select "spin drive"

f) when the drive is spinning again it's time to dump the image, this can be done by clicking on "start dump"

g) You can take a break now as this stage can take a long time depening on the read speed of your dvd drive.

h) - After some time, almost one hour for my case, i have now dumped my xbox360 game.
- The dumped image is a exact RAW copy of the original game disc, wich means any dummy data is copied with this.
- You can now burn this .iso file to an empty dvd-r dl or you can continue with these optional steps and start experimenting with the xbox360 files.

OPTIONAL STEPS:

Extracting the iso file is quite easy. Therefore you should launch Wx360 (see top of page for download location)

Now let me guide you to the extraction progress.

a) First of all you should open the just dumped .iso file or any other xbox/xbox360 .iso file

b) A couple second later you will get a window wich looks alot like explorer and where you can see the files inside the iso

c) To extract the complete .iso just select "extract all files" from the menu file or if you only want to extract one file then you should select your file and right-click on it.

Turning Dep Protection Off

1.click the Start button at the bottom left of your screen
2.click the Control Panel menu item
3.then double-click the System icon.
4.Click the Advanced tab
5.Find the item marked Performance right under there is a button that says Settings.
6.Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
7.You'll see two options in that window click the second option that says "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select."
8. when you are finished with that then click the 'add...' button it should be visable at the bottom of the box. then you have to find where the file 'explorer.exe' resides on your computer most of the time it's something like this c:\windows\explorer.exe anyway add explorer to that list. It'll give you a warning just ignore it and click ok. Then you reboot and if you try it everything should work just fine.

Dual boot problem

Have a 775Dual-VSTA mainboard which I suspect may be the cause of the problem.
Often have set up Windows XP in a dual boot mode with one being loaded with all sorts of extras and the other more bare bones for gaming.
First Windows is on a ATA drive no problem but whenever I go to set up the second Windows on a SATA drive it starts but after the first reboot I get a hardware error message

Some Info About DVB Cards

I thought I'd start this off with some general info about DVB Cards.
Guides for Setting up ProgDVB and MyTheatre can be found in the posts below.
Please let me know if you find any errors so that I can make changes to these posts. Hope this helps any Newbies who are looking to buy or are trying to set up a DVB Card for the first time.

DVB Cards are probably not for testing newbies (just a word of warning). They are really not that difficult to set up once you have read and understand what you are doing and why you are doing it, but they're not nearly as easy to use for newbies as an atmega or avr.

Here's a quick overview
DVB cards are PCI cards that can be used to decode sat signals using both the card and a software program.
With a DVB Card you need a PC, but you do not need an IRD. You can compare a DVB card to an IRD and the software that runs it to a CAM. An IRD or a DVB card decodes the video, but the CAM or software tells the IRD or DVB Card that it is OK to decode the encrypted video.

There are 2 types of DVB cards.
1- Hardware mode card (the card itself decodes the video, still have to use software to tell the card what to do)- example- the Nexus card. Approximate cost $300. Will work on older PCs. Does not use much in the way of system resources. Most have a TV out. (I'm running a Nexus card on a P3 500 with 128 MD of RAM and only an 8 MB video card.)
2- Software mode card (the card uses your PC to decode video)- example- the Vision Plus 1020. Approximate cost $150. Requires a newer PC and a decent Video Card. Most software cards do not have a TV out, so if you want to hook it up to a TV, you'll need a video card with a TV out.

Software for the cards- DVB cards have been used in Europe for a while, so there is a lot of software available. 2 of most popular programs being used to decode Bev and Dish are MyTheatre and ProgDVB. MyTheatre requires Windows XP and seems to work best for the software mode cards. ProgDVB will run in Windows 98 and seems to work best for hardware mode cards. In addition to this software, you also need a cam emulator plugin. Cam emulator being used by most for Bev and Dish is called MDYankse. Another plugin in is needed to roll the keys. One of the most common plugins being used to roll the keys right now is called Fenrir.

Advantages of DVB card- Lots of software available. Has been used successfully in Europe for a while. Can be used to pick up both Bev and Dish programming. Does not have a TSOP, EEPROM, or CAM to be ECM'd.
Another cool thing about most of the DVB programs are that they allow you to record shows onto your hard drive. My ProgDVB set up records shows straight to the MPEG2 format and these files can be burned directly onto a SVCD or DVD.

Disadvantages- Not as easy to use as some of the other methods of testing. Requires a PC. IMO, the biggest drawback of DVB card is the lack of an EPG that is anywhere near as user friendly as the EPG that is on any of the IRDs.

(EPG = Electronic Programming Guide)
With ProgDVB, I've found a couple of different EPGs that work.
The first one I got came from ProgDVB's web site. It will show you what is currently on a particular channel, but you must be tuned to that channel for it to work. It takes a few clicks to access and only gives you the name of the show that is on. It doesn't make for very good channel surfing.
The second one is called Virtual Remote (VR) and it is a separate program that runs in conjunction with ProgDVB. It reads the EPG from the stream and then puts it in a form similar to what you are used to seeing on your IRD. On my PC, it takes about 5 minutes for Virtual Remote to load the EPG data from Bev and about 30 minutes to load the EPG data from Charlie. According to the programmer of VR, Charlie uses a much more complicated algorithm for their EPG data, so it takes longer to decipher.

My problems with VR:
-While it is loading the EPG data, you can’t watch TV (other than A&E, the channel it automatically turns to when it downloads).
-It’s annoying as hell to be watching TV and then for it to switch to A&E and stay there for 5 to 30 minutes. You can adjust how often VR updates, but once it starts updating, the only way I’ve found to stop it is to Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
-It doesn’t pick up programming info from a lot of channels (it shows that the channel is there, but not what’s on).
-It includes info from sats that I’m not pointed at (for Bev, it always includes all the channels from Nimiq 1 and 2 and for Charlie it includes channels from the 61.5, 100, 119, 128, and 148 birds). It’s kind of annoying to see something that you want to watch, but then when you try and change to that channel, you find out that you’re not pointed at that bird.
I think that my complaints about the EPG may eventually be fixed as the software matures, but what is available now in the way of EPGs sucks. (I don’t have Windows XP, so I haven’t tried MyTheatre. Maybe the EPG support with MyTheatre is better.)
My solution for an EPG is to have an icon on my desktop that links directly to www.zap2it.com. Zap2it won’t change channels for you, but I can quickly call it up and see what’s on. Another option for a web EPG for Dishnet can be found on the Dish Network web site (www.dishnetwork.com). The EPG on the Dish Net site includes PPV info, where the Zap2it site doesn't (but zap2it has a guide for both Bev and Dish).
In some ways with my current set up, it’s kind of like watching cable TV (because of the lack of a true EPG), only I have over a 1000 channels to choose from.

Which DVB card to buy
Which DVB card to buy is a personal preference. Some people love the software cards. I personally have a Nexus hardware card and am very happy with it (the PC I'm running it on is older and probably would not run a software mode card).

Research
Before you decide to buy a card, I'd just suggest that you spend at least a couple of hours doing research. If you go to google and search on DVB cards, you'll find several dealers. Look at their recommendations for PC requirements and make sure your system exceeds the minimum requirements.

DVB = Digital Video Broadcasting
DVB is the video standard that Dish, Bev, and several other providers use.
DTV uses the DSS standard, which I believe is used exclusively by Dave.
I'm starting to read rumors about people who claim to be using a program called TSReader and the Twinhan cards for DTV, but I have yet to see instructions on how to do this and most people will tell you that it can't be done because DSS and DVB standards are incompatible. TSReader is not freeware and will set you back $150 cnd. For info on TSReader, see this web site:

Hooking a DVB Card up to Multiple LNBS
As far as hooking up multiple birds, if you decide to buy a DVB card and want to hook it up to multiple LNBs, you'll need what is called a DiSEqC switch instead of a standard multiswitch and unfortunately the 2 are not interchangeable. (A DiSEqC switch that works with your DVB Card will not with an IRD.) UPDATE: I've read posts from a couple of people who state that a standard multiswitch will work with the latest version of ProgDVB, but I couldn't get it to work myself.

DVB is not the same as emulation.
What is normally referred to as emulation is a program that you use on your PC to emulate a smart card. With emulation (or at least what is normally referred to as emulation), you still need an IRD. You also need a cable that runs from your PC to your ird and then some type of interface (often an AVR) to hook that cable up to so that your PC can emulate a smart card and tell your IRD that it is OK to decode the video signal. DVB cards don't require an IRD and operate differently than what is generally referred to in testing as emulation.

Is a DVB card legal?
A DVB card can used to pick up FTA signals. If you go over to www.lyngsat.com, you'll see a list of FTA stations available in North America. Any of the FTA channels that are broadcast in the DVB format should be able to be picked up using a DVB card and the proper LNB and dish (most require a much bigger dish than the little 18 inchers we use for Bev and Charlie).
Some dealers will tell you that DVB cards, unlike other forms of testing, are totally legal. On the surface, this statement is true. If all you are doing with youe DVB card is hooking it up tp your 3 meter dish to view FTA channels, then yes, what you're doing is totally legal. However, what most people are doing with DVB cards here in North America is decrypting the encrypted Bev and Charlie channels and doing that is not any more legal than any other means of testing. (I guess if you were caught with a DVB card you could argue that you were only watching FTA channels.) The nagraket.txt file that is necessary with the current software to decode Bev and Charlie contains key info taken from the provider's cams and I’m sure that they would claim that you are using proprietary info to decode their signals.

Guide to Setting Up ProgDVB

I’m going to assume that you have already pointed your Dish towards the satellite or satellites that you want to use ProgDVB to decode.
If you need a program that will allow you to use your DVB card to help point your Dish, download ProgFinder II from DVB News here:

From the ProgDVB_Plugins.zip, you will need the following 3 files:
-Nagrakey.txt
-Yankse.ini

(If your OS is Windows 2000 or XP, then use the Yankse.dll file. If your OS is Windows 98 or ME, then use the Yankse_98.dll file. DO NOT use both files, as they will interfere with each other.)

NOTE: DO NOT unzip all of the files that are included with ProgDVB_Plugins.zip, You will only be using the three files from this zip that are mentioned above (and are explained in greater detail below). The rest of the files that are included are old and out-of-date and if you place them in the wrong folders, these files might interfere with the operation of the latest version of Fenrir.

Step 1: Installing ProgDVB:
Install the driver for your DVB card. Drivers can usually be found either on the CD that is generally included with card or at the card manufacturers web site. Drivers for some cards can be found on the ProgDVB web site (www.progdvb.com) by clicking on “Drivers” on the left side of the page.

Run the ProgDVB executable file to install ProgDVB.

For Nexus cards: choose SkyStar1 Hardware mode
For SkyStar2 cards: select SkyStar2
For Nova/Budget cards: Select Budget card
For Nova USB: Select Budget USB
For VisionPlus or Twinhan cards: select Twinhan

Next it will ask which Modules you want to install.
Module Definitions
EPG: Electronic program guide
Scheduler: lets you schedule program recording
WinLirc client: add-on letting you use any remote to control your PC functions (http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/)
Broadcast server: to distribute your feed to other PCs. Only the server PC needs a DVB card.

I’d suggest you check all of the options except for the EPG (the EPG that comes with ProgDVB is not very useable).

Let the installer complete, then start ProgDVB.

Click on the SETTINGS-> Device List
Click on the correct card type and then Click “Start”
For Nexus cards: choose SkyStar1 Hardware mode
For SkyStar2 cards: select SkyStar2
For Nova/Budget cards: Select Budget card
For Nova USB: Select Budget USB
For VisionPlus or Twinhan cards: select Twinhan

Step 2: Configuring DiSEqC and LNB settings:
Click on SETTINGS-> DiSEqC
If you have only one LNB/antenna to your DVB card, select NONE on the DiSEqC box. If you connected many satellites or LNBs to your DVB card, select 1.0 OR 2.0 in the DiSEqC switch box.
Click a green dot, then select ADD LNB or highlight an already configured LNB, and click PROPERTY on the right.

For Expressvu and Dish satellites, the values should be:
Type: Ku or circular
LOF1: 11250
SWITCH: 0
LOF2: 11250
POWER option is when your card powers the LNB. Once done, you are ready to scan your selected satellites.

Under the Satellite pull down menu choose the appropriate satellite.
The 2 Expressvu birds are Nimiq1 (at 91 degrees West) and Nimiq2 (at 82 degrees West).
The 2 main Dish birds are Echostar 7 (at 119 degrees West) and Echostar 6 & 8 (at 110 degrees West).
Dish also has the following birds- Echostar 3 (at 61.5 degrees West), Echostar 9 (at 121 degrees West), Echostar 1 & 2 (at 148 degrees West), and Echostar 4 (at 157 degrees West).

Step 3: Scanning satellites:
Click on Channel list-> Channel Search
and then the LNB which you want to look for channels on.

It will take up to 5 minutes for ProgDVB to scan a satellite for an entire list of channels. While it is scanning, you should see a Quality meter and a Level meter. If the Quality meter is below 100%, then you may need to make minor aiming adjustments to your Dish or else you will either get a choppy picture or you might loose your video all together.

Step 4: Verify that you are able to receive FTA video:
After scanning a satellite, you should see a group of folders on the main page in ProgDVB that look like folders in Windows Explorer. If you click on these folders, you’ll see 4 different types of channels.
Channels that have a Green “V” next to them are FTA video channels.
Channels that have a Red “V” next to them are encrypted video channels.
Channels that have a Green “R” next to them are FTA music channels.
Channels that have a Red “R” next to them are encrypted music channels.
At this point, find a FTA (Free-to-Air) video channel, click on the channel and see if you get video and audio. If not, reread this guide. Make sure that you followed all of the steps. If you can’t get Video and Audio on the FTA channels and are not sure what you are doing wrong, stop here and post a question in the DVB Forum here at Dishnewbies. You must be able to receive the FTA channels before going to any of the next steps.

NOTE: The colors of the channels never change. Even once you are done and are able to view the encrypted channels (which you hopefully will be able to do by the end of this guide), the encrypted channels will still show as being Red.

Step 5: Audio and video settings
Click on Settings-> Audio Video
In this window, you can select how ProgDVB will output sound and video, DirectShow settings, and timeshifting values. Most of the defaults should work fine. The only thing I had to change was Volume Control from Sat TV Card to SB Card and then I had to choose the proper Sound Card settings for my Sound Card in the drop down menu.

Click on Settings-> Device Options
Direct Draw should be set to Surface.
BOB mode should be checked.
For Video out, choose the correct Mode, Standard should be NTSC and stretch mode should be none.
For Options, choose Enable Remote Control, Enable OSD, and NTSC. Set Special inversion to Auto.

NOTE: These are just the settings that work for me. If you are having video problems, try adjusting these settings. The most common mistake that people seem to make is to have PAL chosen instead of NTSC.

Step 6: Viewing the Encrypted channels
Close ProgDVB.

MDYankse- Plugin that actually decrypts the video using the public keys that are pulled from the stream using Fenrir.
You need the following 2 files from the from the ProgDVB_Plugins.zip file:
1) Yankse.ini
2) Either Yankse.dll or Yank_98.dll
(If your OS is Windows 2000 or XP, then use the Yankse.dll file. If your OS is Windows 98 or ME, then use the Yankse_98.dll file. DO NOT use both files, as they will interfere with each other.)
Unzip these 2 files into the same directory where you installed ProgDVB (the default directory is usually c:\ProgDVB\)
Again- DO NOT unzip all of the files from the ProgDVB_Plugins.zip. You will only be using the three files that are mentioned in these instructions. The rest of the files that are included are old and out-of-date and if you place them in the wrong folders, they might interfere with the operation of the latest version of Fenrir.

Nagrakey.txt
Create a subfolder called “Nagra” (without the quotation marks) in the same directory where you installed ProgDVB (this should look something like this c:\ProgDVB\Nagra)
From the ProgDVB_Plugins.zip file, unzip the Nagrakey.txt file into the Nagra subfolder that you created.

Fenrir- Plugin that will pull the public keys from the stream.
The version of Fenrir that you downloaded if you followed my link or directions at the beginning of this post is an executable file that will do most of the installation work for you. The file is not in English, but it is currently working (as of March 1) for both Expressvu and Dish. Run the executable. When you are given the option to choose, choose the folder where you installed ProgDVB (the default directory is usually c:\ProgDVB\).

After Fenrir has installed, open ProgDVB. Choose an encrypted Video Channel. After a minute or two Fenrir should update the keys and you should get video.

The most common mistakes I’ve seen are:
-Incorrect LNB settings (Loft1, Loft2, and Switch settings).
-Forgetting the Nagrakey.txt file (or placing it in the wrong folder).
-Making a mistake while attempting to write your own key file for MDYankse to use (see explanation below).
-Trying to use both Fenrir and a softcam.key file (see explanation below).

Fenrir is not a necessary plugin. Fenrir will pull the public keys from the stream for you and create a file called Nagra.key that will be read by MDYankse. If you do not want the keys to autoroll or if you think that you are having problems with getting Fenrir to run right, then you can delete the Fenrir.dll, Fenrir.ini, and Nagra.key files and create your own Softcam.key file by following the directions in the Guide to MDYankse below. Softcam.key and Nagra.key will interfere with one another, so make sure that you do not have both files in your ProgDVB folder.

Parts of this were taken from the Guide over at DVBMaster.com. (I have not ordered from DVBMaster myself, so I can’t recommend that you order from him. I have heard both good and bad things from people who have dealt with him, but some of this information was taken from his site, so I included his web site address here in order to give him credit for some of this information.)

This was written for Newbies who are trying to set up their cards for the first time. It does not cover everything, but if you follow these directions exactly, it should get you up and running. Please ask questions that you come up with in this forum.

Guide to Setting Up MyTheatre

I don't have personal experience with myTheatre, but it's my understanding that for any of the DVBCore programs to work with the plugins (including myTheatre), you need a program called MDWrapper. MD Wrapper can be found here:

Not having used myTheatre, I can't personally verify that these instructions will work, but here are instructions that I found over on maestra.tv written by a TomS. I modified these instructions slightly because the original post was a bit old and I knew that some of the info was out-of-date. If you're using MyTheatre and you see anything that is incorrect (or if you see anything in the above ProgDVB instructions that is incorrect), please let me know so that I can make changes to this post.

Not everything here will apply to everyones set up, so please use whatever sections of this that are pertinent to your setup (and thanks again to TomS).

I am going to assume that you already have the DVB Card installed and that the drivers are also installed.

Step 1: Check and see if you have any other DVB Software currently installed on your computer if you do uninstall it (some programs load into memory at startup and can conflict with your DVB Card IE: WinDVB, some others will also cause problems so the best idea is to get rid of everything and start fresh) Another good idea is to check to see how many programs are autoloading at windows startup, check and see if your CPU is marginal and you have a lot running automatically (IE: MSN, ICQ, Some Video Utilities) it will affect how well your system will run MyTheater and whether or not it freezes on you.

Step 2: Install MyTheater 2.76 (Install everything, make sure all the boxes are checked) when it asks you if you want an interlaced or de-interlaced picture select interlaced, the next thing that you will have to answer is about audio output, select 2 speaker output, you can change it later.

Once MyTheater is installed you can upgrade the Yankse package by unzipping the file to a location of your choice. Once you have unzipped the file find the following two files Yankse.dll and Yankse.ini you will have to copy these files to C:\Program Files\MyTheatre\MDPlugins, or to wherever you installed MyTheater. By the way you will want the Yankse.dll file for windows XP and not the Yankse_w98.dll.

The next thing you need is the SoftCam.Key file, copy it to the same directory as you copied Yankse to.

Note: Check the contents of the SoftCam.key file by viewing it with notepad, make sure that it has the nagravision keys in it, some copies of SoftCam do not have them.
If the softcam.key file does not have the following lines then it probably isn’t a valid key file.
Either put these lines into it or find a keyfile that has them.

I don’t know if the above keys are valid or not, however you can change the keys by editing the softcam.key file all you need are the current keys as used by the people that are running Testing cards these keys are in the following format and are available on a number of sites on the internet.

I think that by now you can figure out how to create the Bell Keys so you are on your own for that one.

Step 3: Turn off your computer and connect your LNB directly to the DVB card, DO NOT use a diseqc switch yet we will set that up later. Restart your computer.

Step 4: Start MyTheater

MyTheater
MyTheater should start up without any errors, if you get a DVB card failure or a directshow failure refer to step 1. Once MyTheater has started move your cursor over to the video portion of the screen and right click, this will bring up the following menu.

Click on general settings, this will bring up a window where you can set general program options, I advise turning off the Timeshift feature until everything has been set up and is running correctly, Do so by clicking on the Timeshift Tab and de-selecting the Enable Timeshift CheckBox (Box is empty). Close the General settings window.

Step 5: Right click on the video screen and select LNB Settings. This brings up a Window showing all your available satellites and their transponders.

Generally I delete all of the satellites, what you do is up to you, but personally I like only the satellites I am interested in being listed, it makes it a lot easier to find what you are looking for.

Step 6: Copy and Paste the following into notepad, save it as Nimiq91.ini, you can do this without closing MyTheater.

Step 7: In MyTheater on the Satellites window you will see some buttons one of them says Import press this button and browse to where you saved the Nimiq91.ini file, select this file and import it into MyTheater.
You should now have a new satellite that says Nimiq 1 (ExpressVU) Highlight this satellite by clicking on it with your mouse.

Right below the satellites box are 3 text boxes put 91 in the first box, leave the second box alone and in the third box select SIMPLE1 from the dropdown.
Again at the bottom of the screen there is a button marked APPLY press this button to save your settings.
In the next set of text boxes put 11250000 in the field LOF1, leave the second field SW at 0, and put 11250000 in the third field LOF2, you will have to type these numbers in manually to set them. When you hare entered these settings press the apply button to save your settings.

You are now ready to scan the satellite for channels. On the other side of the satellites windows you will see a list of available transponders, and below this you will see 3 Blue buttons press the one marked Sel All, this will highlight all the transponders for the satellite, now press the scan button. A new screen will pop up to show you the transponder being scanned and the results. on the Nimig 1 Satellite you should have 450+ Channels after the scan is done. Close the Scan window and then close the LNB Settings window. On the Right side of your screen under the channels list you should now have a new satellite listed (Nimiq91), In front of it is a +sign press it and you should see all your channels.

Step 8: Check for audio and video, select a channel that has a red dot beside it and double click on it within a few seconds you should start seeing and hearing your program, if you don't keep reading. If you don't get audio and video after a minute or so then something is wrong and while I can't troubleshoot everything here these are the most common problems and how to solve them.
First off right click on the video window and when the menu pops up check and see if the selection marked Video On/Off has a checkmark beside it, if it doesn't then click on it to turn it on.
If you still don't have video try another channel and see if that works, some of the channels are HD and you can't receive them anyway.
Next check to see which graph you are using, right click on the video menu and when the menu pops up move your mouse down to the Graphs menu and there will be another menu, the Graph that is being used will have a check mark beside it make sure the one that is for your OS has a check mark beside it.
If you still aren't getting anything you probably have a key problem Right click on the video screen and go to the selection that says plugins select the MD API Wrapper and select it, this will bring up a window where you can check to see if your keys are valid. Across the top of the MD API Wrapper window are a set of menu choices, select the one that says Yankse, a menu will drop down, first of all make sure that the one marked ACTIVE has a check mark beside it.
Next click on the one that says show monitor a new screen will pop up and here we can check and see if our keyfile is valid. In the box marked Key there should be a set of numbers, if they aren't there you have an invalid keyfile, the box could also show an error message, no key, invalid key, etc.
If this is the case then get another keyfile and try again.

Select the MD API Wrapper to show available plugins

Normally all of the boxes in the monitor screen will show numbers in them, the only one that you are interested in is the box labeled Key, you should see a set of numbers and or letters in this box, if it says NO KEY, or INVALID KEY then your keyfile is not valid and you will either need a new one or if you are able create a new one.

NOTE: A plugin called Fenrir is supposed to pick up the new keys from the datastream. While it does work some people have trouble getting it to work. I’d suggest you not try it until you get Yankse up and running first. Fenrir is not a necessary plugin. If/when the keys roll, you can always get them on the internet and then manually updated the SoftCam.key file.

Step 9: Turn off your computer and disconnect the Nimiq LNB connect the LNB for DishNet. Restart your computer.
Copy and Paste the following into notepad, save it as EStar119.ini.

Follow exactly the same procedure as you did in Step 7 and scan the satellite
You should find 300+ channels
Check to see if they are being decoded properly the same way you did in step 8 if they are the you can go to the next step and hook up your diseqc switch.

Step 10: Turn off your computer and disconnect the LNB cable. Connect a piece of cable between the terminal marked receiver of the diseqc switch and the LNB Input of your DVBCard, Connect the Nimiq91 cable to the LNB1 terminal of the diseqc switch, then Connect the Dishnet cable to the LNB2 terminal of the diseqc switch. Restart your computer and then start MyTheater. When MyTheater comes up Right click on your video screen and select LNB Settings, when the window pops up select the Nimiq91 satellite by clicking on it with your mouse, In the box directly below the satellites from the dropdown that says SIMPLE1 change it to V1.0-LNB1 press the apply button. Select the EStar 119 satellite in the satellites list and then change the box showing SIMPLE1 to V1.0-LNB2 and press the apply button.

If you did everything like you were supposed to you should now be able to switch back and forth between Bell and Dish without any problems, I have been using this setup for a short while and while there are a few minor problems they aren't enough to be concerned about.

MyTheater seems to be quite a good program, it does have a few bugs in it (IE: Freezing) but I have found that by editing your channel lists you can get rid of most of them. Be Warned - if you select a channel that is in HDTV the program will try to receive and decode it your CPU usage will go to 100% and it will take a few minutes for the system to recover, some of the guys are testing these cards to receive HDTV but there doesn't seem to be much success, most people are probably better off waiting till an HDTV card is released.

Notes and Problem Solving

Directshow Errors, Program Errors
Make sure that you have completely installed MyTheater, with all of the filters, if you didn’t do a complete install or aren’t sure if you did a complete install do a complete Reinstall and make sure that you select to install all the filters. (See Step 2)

No Channels Found During Scan
There could be several problems that cause this I am only going to go over the most common ones.
1. Make sure you dish is pointed correctly for the satellite you want to receive.
2. Are you hooked up directly to the LNB, If Not remove any devices that could be interferring with your signal IE diseqc switch, SW-21 switch, Distribution switch. By hooking directly to the LNB you get a better signal for scanning and it is much easier to troubleshoot problems. (See Step 3).

No Video
Check your keyfile (Softcam.Key) (See Step 2)

Where can I get a keyfile
Same place everybody else does look for it, search in the forums, links to it are there, or edit your own. (See Step 2)

Can You Send Me A Copy Of Your Keyfile
The short answer is NO. If you read this you can create your own.

MyTheater freezes up on me what is the problem?
1. You machine isn’t fast enough Minimum 1000Mhz, 512Meg Ram if your using AMD get an even faster processor.
2. What is running on your machine besides MyTheater check your taskmanager to see. Some things that can affect freezing are, an active internet connection, memory managers, applications that you have left running in the background. You have to realize when My Theater is displaying video that is not the only job it is doing, it is decoding and decrypting the satellite stream, converting the mpeg stream to a format that you can view on your PC or TV, and processing the audio, this is a lot for a single processor to handle. The bottom line is simple the less you are running with MyTheater the less freezes you will get.
3. Dishnet and Bell both send down a lot of ECM’s while these don’t hurt your card or software they can cause intermittent freezes.
4. If you happen to select or switch to an HDTV channel your machine will probably Freeze, at least momentairly.
5. The Graphs in MyTheater are a problem, Some work on some machine and not on others My system currently runs for about 8 hours per day, and it does not freeze up or quit on me, the graph I am using is the WinXP V-Sonic, A-InterVideo FX.GRF included with MyTheater, however the sonic decoder was giving me some headaches so I deleted it with graphedit and changed it to the cinemaster decoder and renamed the file to WinXP V-Cine, A-InterVideo FX.GRF. Problem solved for me at least, as I said it runs for at least 8 hours with no freezing and I have run it for as many as 20 without a freeze-up.

The Remote that came with my VP-1020 card doesn’t work.
Try plugging it in. The USB Receiver is an HID Keyboard, it will work in MyTheater but it isn’t a remote to control your computer. If you want to see if it is working open notepad and press the number keys they should be displayed in notepad if the remote is working.

Thanks to argan from DVBN forums for his method.

Okay I got it to work perfectly, the quality looks good on my 53" Pioneer in Natrual wide screen, here is what I did and thanks to argan who steered me in the right direction

I used these 2 software applications – DVD patcher 1.06 and TMPGEnc DVD Authour 1.5.20.62, with the TSP-AC3-1.06 patch.

1. As per argan DVD Author won’t accept a DVB recorded file that is not DVD compliant. To get the non-standard file into DVD Author, you have to tell some lies to the application. You do this by changing the file header with DVDPatcher.

2. Open DVDPatcher and open the recorded DVB dishnet mpeg file. Select a bitrate of 8Mbps, I used Aspect 16:9 because I have a High Def TV (argan suggests Aspect 4:3), Horizontal Size 720, Vertical Size 480, Frame Rate 29.97, and First Header Only. Patch the file.

3. Open DVD Author and create a new project. Open the mpeg file. You will get an error regarding the non-standard GOP’s that are built into the Dish Network stream. Ignore the error.

4. You can edit the clip and trim out anything you don’t want to be in the final DVD. You can make menus with scene selections. Set up the type of menu you want, and “Output” the DVD files or image as you wish.

5. Once I did this I wrote it to an ISO. Once the ISO was done I used Nero 6.3 to write the ISO.

Originally I had some problems writing the DVD but it turned out to be Memorex DVD- disks. My advice DO NOT use Memorex disks they are CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!!!!

An Alternative EPG NEW

myHTPC

OK- myHTPC has been around for about a year now, so it's not exactly new. What's new is better support for myTheatre and ProgDVB and better support for Windows 98 and ME (older versions required XP or 2000).

What is it?
myHTPC is a frontend program that allows you to manage a lot of different types of multimedia files and has a plugin that allows you to run an EPG with MyTheatre or ProgDVB that pulls EPG data from the the Zap2it web site (and allows you to schedule recordings and switch channels through the myHTPC interface). I'm still trying to get it to work properly myself, but it looks really cool and appears to be very similar to the multimedia program that is a part of Windows XP Media Center edition. myHTPC is free and allows you to share multimedia files across a network. If/when I get it set up and running properly myself, I will add directions to this post.

UPDATE: March 6- Spent about 4 hours trying to get myHTPC to work. Can't get XMLTV automate to work without errors and can't get BSPepg to work at all. Have made many changes to the ini files and they don't seem to help much (just lead to different errors). I've read enough to know that myHTPC can work with ProgDVB and works well with myTheatre, but I'm giving up for the time being. I'm sure I'll try again another day, but if any of you get it up and running, please post.

SIZE=7]BSPepg-2.1 for use with myHTPC[/SIZE]

It will probably be this weekend before I have time to really work on getting myHTPC up and running, but here's a link for any of you that might be trying to get it to work:

This link will download a program called BSPepg-2.1 which you can use to download EPG data from the sat stream. BSPepg-2.1 is not an EPG program itself. It simply downloads the EPG data from the stream and puts it in a XMLTV format that can then be used by the myHTPC EPG plugin.
BSPepg-2.1 requires a Nexus card (it won't work with other cards).
The advantage that BSPepg-2.1 has over Zap2it is that by downloading EPG data from the stream, you get PPV info (and info on the locals from the Dish sats).
I plan on trying to obtain EPG data for myHTPC using both BSPepg-2.1 (which pulls info from the sat stream) and XMLTV Automate (which pulls from the Zap2it web site) and will report my results.

For those still having a problem with no picture and no sound with dishnet setup and are running the latest Fenrir and Yanksee plugins try this

ok here is a step-by on how to use simple dish1800pidselect query:
1. make a backup copy of channels.mdb
2. open channels.mdb in msaccess
3. click on queries
4. click on create query in design view
5. close table selection window(leave empty query open)
6. click on sql in toolbar or right-click and select sql view
7. paste text of query
8. save query with a name you like
9. run query
10. delete query or not up to you...
11. test ..... hopefully watch tv

Also here is a good ini list for those who want to run 110 and 119. Before you do the query thing above, go to the "Settings", LNB/DiSeqc settings & Scan". Edit the Satellites that you want, I would delete the ones you don't want. If your going to use the ini list here (I didn't do it and am not taking credit for it) then you will have to use the import option. It is decribed in Johnbuk's post above. Use the LOF1 11250000 SW=0 and LOF2 11250000. Then select and scan all. Don't run the query above until you do this.

Guide to MDYankse
How To Create a softcam.key file

Most, if not all of this information was included in the Guides to Setting Up ProgDVB an MyTheatre.

However, I’m placing this in it’s own section because I think that it’s important that you understand how to write a softcam.key file for use with MDYankse for a couple of reasons:
1) Over the past couple of years Bev and Dish have periodically changed the way that they encrypt their public keys. When these changes occur, it usually takes anywhere from a few days to a few weeks in order for a fix to come out that can handle the new key encryption. When this happens, if you have been using Fenrir (or Snitch, or any other similar plugin) to roll the keys, it will stop working until a new version is written. Until a new key rolling plugin comes out, the only way to watch TV using your DVB card will be to create your own softcam.key file (or to download one from someplace, but it’s really not that difficult to create your own).
2) Some people no matter what they have tried, cannot get Fenrir or any other similar key rolling programs to work. Fenrir (which will be detailed in a Guide following this post) is not a necessary program, especially since Dish and Bev have not been rolling the keys very often lately.

To use MDYankse with ProgDVB and/or MyTheatre, first set up the program that you want to use and make sure you get the free channels (for more details on this, see the posts at the beginning of this topic).

Then you will need the following:
1) The latest version of MDYankse
The latest releases MDYankse can usually be found on either of these 2 sites or by doing a google search:

2) The Nagrakey.txt, file which is in included in this zip file (from the Bev Files- Other section here at Dishnewbies):

4) MDWrapper (necessary for MyTheatre, not needed for ProgDVB)
Can be found on the MyTheatre web site:

Step 1- Installing MDYankse and Nagrakey.txt

For ProgDVB
Close ProgDVB
If you previously installed Fenrir, delete fenrir.dll and fenrir.ini from the ProgDVB root directory.
Unzip the MDYankse files into the ProgDVB root directory (usually c:\ProgDVB\).

(If your OS is Windows 2000 or XP, then use the Yankse.dll file. If your OS is Windows 98 or ME, then use the Yankse_98.dll file. DO NOT use both files, as they will interfere with each other.)

Create a subfolder in your ProgDVB root directory called “Nagra” without the quotation marks (usually c”\ProgDVB\Nagra\).
Unzip the Nagrakey.txt file into this subfolder.
Go to Step 2

For MyTheatre
Close MyTheatre
Install MDWrapper.
If you previously installed Fenrir and MDWrapper, then delete fenrir.dll and fenrir.ini from the MDPlugin directory.
Unzip the MDYankse files into the MDPlugin directory that was created when you installed MDWrapper.

(If your OS is Windows 2000 or XP, then use the Yankse.dll file. If your OS is Windows 98 or ME, then use the Yankse_98.dll file. DO NOT use both files, as they will interfere with each other.)

Create a subfolder in your MDPlugin directory called “Nagra” without the quotation marks.
Unzip the Nagrakey.txt file into this subfolder.
Go to Step 2

Step 2- Creating a softcam.key file

Open Windows Notepad (or Wordpad)
Cut and past everything in between the following quotation marks into Notepad. (Do not copy the quotation marks. If the quotation marks get pasted in Notepad along with everything else then delete the quotation marks in Notepad):

Name this file softcam and save it to the ProgDVB root directory or the MyTheatre MDPlugin directory (depending on which program you are using). Notepad will automatically give the file a .txt extension, so after you saved the file, find it in Windows Explorer and rename it in to softcam.key.

I don’t know if the above keys are valid or not, however you can change the keys by editing the softcam.key file all you need are the current keys as used by the people that are running Testing cards these keys are in the following format and are available on a number of sites on the internet.

EXAMPLE:

Open ProgDVB or MyTheatre.
If you wrote the softcam.key file correctly, you should be able to click on any of the encrypted channels and watch TV.
If you’re not able to watch the encrypted channels, try to click the read keys function in the Yankse Plugin.
If reading the keys manually doesn’t work, then you probably either placed the Nagrakey.txt file in the wrong place or you made a mistake when creating your softcam.key file. Reread these directions carefully and then ask questions if you can’t figure out what went wrong.

Guide to Fenrir

This guide was adapted from a post by Giver over on the DVB Network site. I modified Giver’s post a quite a bit, adding some information and the links. Thanks Giver.

Fenrir is a plugin that can be used with multidec programs (such as ProgDVB) and dvbcore programs (such as RitzDVB and MyTheatre) to pull the public keys from the satellite stream.

NOTE: These instructions are not needed if you decide to use the latest version of Fenrir that is posted on Dishnewbies in the Bev Files- Other section at this link (and is detailed in the Guide to Setting Up ProgDVB at the beginning of this topic):

I can confirm that this version, while not in English, is currently (as of today, March 5) working for me for both Dish and Bev. You still have to have MDYankse installed first and you have to manually delete the softcam.key (if it is present), but since this version is run from an executable, it does all of the set up work for you.

I’m including these instructions for:
-Anyone who is having problems with Fenrir.
-In the event that Dish and/or Bev change the way that they are encrypting the public keys and a new version of Fenrir comes out that addresses the new encryption, but does not include an executable.
-Anyone who is testing irdeto and/or viaccess systems.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Prior to setting up Fenrir, follow the instructions in the Guide for Setting Up MDYankse. If MDYankse doesn’t work for you using a softcam.key file, then Fenrir will not work.

To set up Fenrir (after you have gotten MDYankse to work on it’s own), you need:
1) Latest FENRIR release.
The latest release of Fenrir can usually be found on either of these 2 sites or by doing a google search:

2) Ird-beta.kid (for irdeto)
(Can sometimes be found by doing a web search)
3) Viaccess.sci (for viaccess)

Progdvb
Close ProgDVB.
Delete the softcam.key file from the ProgDVB root directory.
Delete any other .key files that may be present in the ProgDVB root directory.
DO NOT delete the Nagrakey.txt file that must be in the Nagra directory (usually c:\ProgDVB\Nagra\).
Unzip the fenrir files into the ProgDVB root directory.
Start ProgDVB.
Go to plugins, then the Fenrir monitor. It should display the emm pid.
To log for keys, you have to make sure the emm pid is checked, then also check analyze to start logging. The * will start blinking as the only sign the emm pid is being analyzed.
Once the keys are found, you should uncheck analyze and close/hide Fenrir, make sure ACTIVE is not checked (you don't need to run Fenrir all the time unless the provider update keys too often)

MyTheatre/RitzDVB
Close MyTheatre
Unzip Fenrir to the MDPlugin directory.
Delete the softcam.key file from the MDPlugin directory.
Delete any other .key files that may be present in the MDPlugin directory.
DO NOT delete the Nagrakey.txt file that must be in the Nagra directory within the MDPlugin directory.
Unzip the fenrir files into the MDPlugin directory.
Start MyTheatre.
Go to plugins, then the Fenrir monitor. It should display the emm pid.
To log for keys, you have to make sure the emm pid is checked, then also check analyze to start logging. The * will start blinking as the only sign the emm pid is being analyzed.

For irdeto/viaccess
Instructions are the same as for Nagravision except that you must have either the Ird-beta.kid file (for irdeto) or the Viaccess.sci file (for Viaccess). These files contain the log keys and can sometimes be found by doing a web search. If you would like to try creating your own log key file, instructions for doing so are included in the Fenrir readme that is generally included when you download Fenrir. The info needed is taken from working smartcards.
These files (unlike the Nagrakey.txt file which gets placed in it’s own subfolder named Nagra) need to be placed in the directory where the Fenrir.dll is located (in ProgDVB’s root directory or in MyTheatre’s Plugin directory).
These files are as important as the Nagrakey.txt file for Nagravision providers. Without these files, you can't log keys with Fenrir in any way.
Some irdeto providers change keys too many times daily, so it is important to set Fenrir to ACTIVE permanently.

Remember that by using Fenrir’s default settings, it does not write keys to the softcam.key file, it writes keys to the nagra.key, ird-beta.key and viaccess.key files.
It’s very important to read and understand where the files to be read by Fenrir and MDYankse are supposed to be located since those paths will determine the proper operation of this plugins. The Yankse.dll needs to read the files from the same folder where it is located. By making changes to the Fenrir.ini file, you can change the paths where Fenrir will save the key files.

Q: What keys can Fenrir update?
A: All those encryption systems where the card's keys are known and you have access to- Nagravision1, irdeto1, viaccess1, seca1. Newer versions where cards cannot be open, like Nagravision2, irdeto2, viaccess2, etc., do not with Fenrir, as little is known or not enough is known about them.

Q: I don't see fenrir in the plugin menu.
A: Make sure Fenrir.dll is in the correct directory:
Should be in the MDplugin directory for MT/Ritzdvb or in the root directory for ProgDVB.

Q: I open the Fenrir monitor, but I don't see any emm pid listed.
A: Make sure Yankse plugin is installed. Make sure you are in a working and encrypted channel. Make sure the Yankse monitor shows CA id listed and detected. Make sure the correct ecm is selected by double clicking in the CA id listed.
If simulcrypt (meaning more than one CA id is listed), double click on the appropiate CA id.

Q: I see the * blinking, but Fenrir doesn't find any keys.
A: This might be produced by many factors. The usual one is that you don't have the correct keys (in nagrakey.txt or ird-beta.kid or viaccess.sci). Other problems might be a bad combination of program/yankse/mdwrapper versions. You usually want to make sure that you have the latest versions of all the programs and plugins, but some people have better luck using older versions.

If are having problems with Fenrir, or with anything else relating to your DVB setup, when asking questions, please include the following information:
-System you’re trying to test
-Model of DVB Card
-Versions of program that you are using and versions of any plugins
-PC info including OS

Example of a question with enough info for someone to possibly begin helping you find an answer without first asking a bunch of follow up questions about your setup:

I spent this week upgrading to Windows XP. I've never had a problem with Windows ME (or 98 or 95 before that), but I wanted to try some of the newer DVB progies out there and got a good deal from a friend who had bought a full version of XP that he never used. I debated about whether to go to XP on my HTPC (which is a pretty old machine) or to give Linux a try. After spending several weeks reading about Linux, I decided that it would require more time than I was willing or able to commit, so I went with the upgrade to XP instead. The installation of XP was more difficult then I ever imagined. OK, it wasn't that it was difficult, it was that it was a pain in the ass and frustrating. None of the drivers that installed with XP worked worth a damn and I spent a good part of the week downloading the proper drivers.

While I didn't get that much done the rest of this week, tonight was very productive. I got XMLTV automate, BSPepg, and 2 different versions of MyTheatre up and running. (I got myHTPC to run both MyTheatre and PrgoDVB, but I still can't get the EPG in myHTPC to work. I think that my problem with the EPG in myHTPC may be due to my old, slow PC.)

The guide that I posted here to MyTheatre works great if you are installing myTheatre 2.76 (the last free version), but wasn't much help with the latest version (3.12).

I played around with the latest version of myTheatre for a while tonight and I thought I'd post my quick impressions for anyone still considering purchasing a DVB card. myTheatre isn't any anywhere near as user friendly as ProgDVB. ProgDVB is easier to set up and easier to navigate once it is set up. If you don't care about an EPG, then IMO, ProgDVB is the way to go. However, the latest EPG for myTheatre is miles ahead of anything available for ProgDVB and myTheatre does a much better job of recording shows. If the latest myTheatre EPG were accessible from my TV's OSD, then it would be extremely close to emulating the feel of my 2700 IRD (only with the option of being able to record shows).

I'll try and follow this up with a guide on setting up MyTheatre 3.12 within the next week or so and then I plan on starting to play around with a newer software out there that that is also based on DVBcore called DVBDream and will post my results after trying it.

That helps a lot, so thank you. I do have one question though, and it is bugging me to no end. I just killed a Dremora Caibili, soul trapping him before he was killed, but when he finally died, nothing came out, and a message at the top said that I had no soul gems large enough to contain his soul. But I had 4 grand soul gems! What did I do wrong?

in response to someones problem with the dremora, black soul gems capture HUMANOID souls (includes dremora warriors and regular people). to make black soul gems that work, you have to have an empty grand soul gem, go to necromancers cave (mages guild mission), wait until wednesday(wendas or something) night(near midnight), place the grand soul gem in the altar, then case a dispel or soultrap on it (don't remember actually, so try both), amd then you have usable black soul gems....UNLIKE THESE. and in the description here, it tells you where this guy is located, dont really see the need for more information...this gets a 5 because its a great idea, but the soul gems should work....

Drakir, you wanted to know the proper ingame way to make black soul gems - First, head to one of these locations: Dark Fissure (east from the shrine of Vaermina) Fort Istirus (east of Kvatch) Fort Linchal (north east of Kvatch) Wendelbeck (at the headwaters of the Panther River) Outside them you will find an altar. For one full day per week, a purple light shines down from the sky on the altar. If you get there and it isn't there, just use the wait command and wait 24 hours until it is. Once the light is shining on the altar, place a SINGLE, EMPTY, GRAND soul gem in the altar (it's a container like a chest), then cast a soul trap spell on the altar. Then open it up again, your grand soul gem is now a black one. Repeat for as many spare empty grand soul gems as you have, only one at a time though, but you can do them one after another. And in case anyone doesn't know why you would WANT them - black soul gems can trap the souls of the higher races - men, elves, khajit, etc... which are always grand souls. Bandits are ideal. If you want to capture grand souls using regular soul gems, only VERY high level enemies such Xivilai, Lich (NOT Nether Lich), Minotaur Lord (not regular Minotaur) have grand souls.

picked up a mikobu n2 unlocker from dsstoybox on friday(ordered on tuesday) and this thing is the cat's ass for unlocking rom102's popped first card in 28 seconds and second card in 7 seconds no pot to play with just flash with jumper on and glitch with jumper offif all you're going to be unlocking are 102's I highly recommend this unlocker

Modding ird method

This question was asked many times and sometimes people are getting confused, because answers may be incomplete or misleading. I will attempt to make it simple:
First, what is noRSA mod and when you need it?Current N2 testing is based on "prior knowledge" of some key encryption data that is residing in IRD firmware and matches with data in testing device (ATMEGA in our case). This data is partially based on IRD#, Box Keys and CAM# of the card.The latest development in this area led to "hard coding" this data in the ATMEGA, therefore minimum changes are needed to the IRD FLASH. This also allows IRD to be able to safely take firmware updates without having to re-FLASH changes.
Next, it is important to understand that if IRD was already "patched" with UNIVERSAL scripts, used before, it will be impossible to make noRSA mod on them, unless you force IRD to take update. Update will undo these changes and make FLASH be "ready" for noRSA mod application.
While noRSA mod essentially changes the IRD#, BK and CRC, it is important to understand that some IRD models (like DP301.013 and all DVR5xx) use different identification method (referred to as SK, which stands for Session Keys) and therefore need these numbers "relocated" in a certain manner.
Therefore it is much easier to use noRSAmod.fs script to do it for you instead of trying to do these things manually.
I assume you have JTAF cable and working jKeys.

1. Necessary utilities:Flash EditFE script "noRSAmod.fs"Place .fs file into FE directory.If have to do do Step 5B, get HEX Editor.
2. VERY IMPORTANT!!!Get stream-updated IRD to the latest F/W version.
3. Backup FLASH and EEPROM
4. Check if your FLASH is corrupt or badly backed-up.To do it, just open this file with FE in "Beginners" mode.If no problem - skip to Step 6.
5. If there are CRC problems, this may be result of bad JTAGging. Try it several times before resorting to the following 2 ways of fixing:A. If you have ANY previous version backup - check with FE. If CRC error - use "Advanced" mode and fix it by copying "proper" CRC. DO NOT have to fix IRD#/BK CRC.Program it back into IRD and go back to step 2.B. Get FLASH (TSOP) image from the Forum Bank. Try to find one the same 3 first letters in Build Config.Generate "virgin EEPROM" from this file in FE. Using HEX EDitor, copy first 48 bytes from the "virgin" over your own EEPROM image and program result into IRD.IMPORTANT!!! Do not use "virgin" to program IRD. It will create severe problem in DP301 and later.Test if IRD works, if not - go to Step 2. Else skip Step 6.
6. Open FLASH image with FE. Select correct "No SK" or "others" script from the drop-down and apply.Program result into IRD. No need to change EEPROM!
7. Program your testing card
8. !!! VERY IMPORTANT !!!Enjoy life. Watching TV is stealing a lot of it from you.
After you updated the firmware and follow the steps below, you should be fine getting TV. Better use Buffered Jtag

Alternate method

stream your ird for update firmware, your 3100 will be P2472.
back up your both tsops.
open you back up tsops by FlashEdit 2111beta9,
change the ird# 011C746Cbox key : 8C A6 A8 8C FD E2 E2 63
make sure check the crc, if red click fix crc, then will change green back.
save the mod tsops
in the same screen(flashedit), save vergin eeprom, i.e. click the script to find save vergin eeprom.fs, screan pop out asking you to enter the build conf. which you can find a sticker inside the ird showing the build conf number.
open wallV2first erase flash 2 and then program your saved mod tsop u23second erase flash 1 and then program your saved mod tsop u22
take your ird to power on for 3 minutes then fed in the sat cable
now program your atmega by satVia all_in_1_Final with the update keys9. watching TV

Updating a Rom 10

Instructions to update keys
SKIP TO STEP 9 IF ALREADY ROM 102 EMULATION USING THE PREVIOUS STEPS.

1. Unlock using unlockN2Rom10Emu.d2c in Nagra 4.1 under comm if rom 10 already updated to emulate rom 102.
2. One Step Clean Rom10,
3. Open Modded Mar 22 ird #s BevKwikKeys.bn10 file in Nagra 4.1
4. Go to Patch editor tab.
5. Open MODDED WITH DAADBAAFBAADFAAD INFO.ep10 patch (the instructions are there too), change info there. TEST , if no errors then run patch. ********* Default Values for Time and Zip are for Atlantic Canada ************ Save image when done , then write to card. Card should be locked, hit read card to make sure.
6. Open Comm Tab, Open key_Mar 22 key changer.d2c, update keys in file, TEST!!! If no errors send it.
7. When it shows numbers in bottom and light stops blinking on ISO then card has keys and your ready to watch tv.
8. When Keys Roll next time :
9. open Nagra4.1, Comm Tab, Open key changer.d2c , update keys in file, test, if no errors send it

**** DO NOT FORGET PASS which is DAADBAAFBAADFAAD when u change it, and change to key changer.d2c same as was done in INFO.ep10****

You'll need a jtag, jkeys, flashedit2.1beta9, the flashedit fs scripts for rom10, nagraedit 4.1 and the rom102to10-8c, 3mtierpatch-0801-8d and one of the dual key patches. (all these files can be found in the essential files forum)

Update your tsop so that you have the latest firmware, then jtag the receiver.

Check to see if it's a good save by loading it in flashedit2.1beta9 and try and open in beginner mode. If it won't allow you to open in beginner mode it's corrupted. Keep doing a read until it allows you to open in beginner mode of flashedit2.1beta9. Most causes of corrupted reads are caused by either poor jtag connections, using pogo pin jtags and a slight movement, poor ground, etc...

Once you get a good read save several copies of it and store in a safe
location.

Then edit one copy in flashedit using the rom10 fs script for your model receiver, you'll also need to edit in the fake boxkeys and ird number.
Change IRD number to: [b]0162B382 (make sure you use these ones)
Change Box Keys to: 87382EC5ACC1047E. [/b](make sure you use these ones)
Click on fix crc.

Then choose your model in script window (remember to use the rom10 version for bev, and apply script and save them in a different location from the originals (somewhere easy to find)

Then choose save virgin eeprom in script window and apply. When asked for the label type all of it in caps and use the label that is located on your ird's board, NOT the tsop, save it in same folder as the modded tsop's.

Then open up jkeys, erase your flash and program with the modded flash
you just created, once that is done, go into eeprom programming and program your eeprom with the virgin eeprom you just created

Then open nagraedit clean your rom 10 a couple of times.

Then open the rom102to10-0801-8c.ep10, test, if no errors, apply.

Open the 3mtierpatch-0801-8d.ep10 patch, change password and test, if no errors, apply.

ATI is set to 1024x768 with overscan turned on, SVideo Sharpness maximum

(If you will only be watching SDTV and not HDTV, use 640x480 for a resolution at 60Hz and enable 'Video Mode' in ATI drivers, it'll output a perfect NTSC interlaced signal, but 640x480 is way too low of res for HD content)

(If using DVI, set computer resolution to native resolution of your TV/projector. Another useful tip for MyTheatre, hold left mouse button down and scroll wheel to zoom video this will help crop off noise around edges of channels because DLP/projectors don't overscan.)

In MyTheatre I use Cyberlink (powerdvd) 6 Video Codec and AC3Filter RC5 for audio.

I DO NOT use IVR as I find it softens and brightens the image making it look dull. Also kills CPU in some cases.

I use Generic Renderer.

For SDTV I set cyberlink to Hardware accelerated Bob Mode (make sure you run latest ATI catalyst if applicable it resolved a vertical judder issue)

Bob Mode doubles the framerate so it can display both fields properly, ie. 30fps becomes 60fps. You can't do this on HDTV channels and expect it to work as most are already Progressive and all of them I've seen are already 60fps therefore it would try to do 120fps and mess up because there would be no fields on progessive content. I find Setting to Auto detects and properly selects Bob or weave depending on the content. SDTV is compressed so much that Auto doesn't know what the hell to use. If you want a little bit of reduction in CPU cycles, PowerDVD5/Cyberlink codec also works and uses less CPU. But on some video cards gives blocks and whatnot. There is another codec that seems to work wonders. 'Intervideo Video Decoder for Technotrends' is the name, not sure where I got it, but appears to work better than normal intervideo. No settings, just select it and it seems to automatically display using weave or bob properly between sd and hd content.

For HDTV I set cyberlink to Hardward acceleated Auto Mode

AC3Filter is set to passthrough AC3 to SPDIF, or output 2 channel stereo is not AC3.

Tip: In Task Manager, MyTheatre.exe (the one that has the most CPU usage), Right-click, Priority, Realtime -- This helped out BIG time!

I have my timeshift buffer set to file 2048MB Use OS Cache IS enabled (such a huuuuuge help with hard drive performance). (I'll be increasing size as 2048 is only about 20 mins in HD mode. For best results, a 2nd hard drive for timeshift only is optimal... if you'll be recording anyways, just watching live tv it won't do much.) for some reason memory buffer can't go above about 1.4GB I think it's a windows issue with how much a single program can allocate.

My Record speed is 10X but some people report lower record speeds help.

I have 7% CPU usage on SDTV, and 15% to 25% usage on HDTV.
